LifeSpan Digital Health Launches emPower+ to Help Prevent Physician Burnout

TUCSON, AZ — June 25, 2025 — LifeSpan Digital Health, a University of Arizona startup, has launched a science-backed solution to one of healthcare’s biggest challenges: physician burnout. Their platform, emPower+, is grounded in over 20 years of research led by Dr. Samuel Keim, Department Head of Emergency Medicine at UArizona’s College of Medicine.

Unlike traditional wellness surveys administered once a year, emPower+ delivers short, real-time monthly assessments alongside wearable integrations. The platform provides clinicians with personalized support while anonymizing and aggregating data to inform system-level change. Built to detect risk early and surface invisible stressors—like equipment failure or staffing gaps—the platform equips leadership with insights they can act on.

With backing from the Wildcat Philanthropic Seed Fund and incubation through the University of Arizona Center for Innovation, LifeSpan has completed its MVP and is launching pilots at five institutions, including one of the largest medical centers in the world. The company’s goal: turn data into action before burnout turns into attrition.

“More than half of physicians in the United States are burned out. Many others are on their way to that status. This is a personal crisis, a workplace crisis, and affects the entire healthcare system,” said Dr. Keim. “Our goal with LifeSpan is to make wellness tracking both meaningful and manageable, so we can actually do something with the data and help providers and administrators before they hit a breaking point.”
